Your new (classic) profile page

Your profile page has its classic MusicXen look back — the design long-time members will remember — rebuilt so that everything on it is real and works. This article walks the page top to bottom.

The blue top bar

The bar at the very top of a profile keeps the current MusicXen logo and the "Where music happens" tagline. Next to them:

  • The envelope opens your messages. The red badge is your real unread message count.
  • Contacts goes to your friends and contacts; Add goes to invites.
  • The search box searches the whole site.
  • The Help coin opens this Help Center.
  • Your picture and name open your own profile; Sign Out is at the end.

Signed out, the same bar offers Log in and Sign up instead.

The black menu

The black bar under the blue one is the profile's own menu:

  • About — the page itself, the default view.
  • Wall — the member's wall, now its own section (it used to sit at the bottom of About).
  • Bands — only appears when the member is in at least one band: a card for each of their bands with their role in it, a short summary, and that band's mini calendar. With several bands, tabs switch between them in place.
  • Music and Photos — the member's media page.
  • Calendar — a month grid of the confirmed shows of every band this member plays in.
  • Reviews — the reviews this member has written (of bands, venues, shows, and lessons). People aren't a thing you review on MusicXen, so a member's Reviews tab is their own review history.
  • Works — only appears when the member has active listings in the Works Marketplace.
  • Tagged, Diary, Listening (when the member shares it), and Credits (when they have any) round out the menu.

The left column: photo, stars, Like/Dislike

Under the member's name bar is their photo. Click it (or any photo in the Photos section) to open the photo viewer: a bigger view with the caption, where the photo came from, and its date, plus arrows to step through all of the member's photos — profile picture, gallery photos, and photos from their own posts. The viewer opens at the size the photo had on the page (never smaller than 200px wide); the ⤢ button blows it up to nearly the full frame, and pressing it again shrinks it back.

The stars are a real one-to-five rating. Tap a star to rate the member; the caption keeps the honest math — the average, the percent that works out to, and how many votes it came from. You can change your rating any time. You can't rate your own profile.

Like / Dislike works the same way. The two thumb buttons keep real counts, and the bar between them splits green and red in proportion. Tap Like and it stays green; tap it again to take it back; tap Dislike to switch sides. Everything updates in place — no page reload. You can't like or dislike your own profile.

Under those sit the member's roles, friend count, and their availability grids — the same mini calendars as before, showing free and busy days. If it's your profile, tap a future day to flip it between free and busy.

The middle: quick facts, Bio, Music Info, and Availability

Every black-menu item swaps only the middle section — the blue bar, the left column, and the right rail never reload, and the page never jumps back to the top. About and the Wall are separate menu stops now, not one long page.

  • The quick-info strip shows the member's city and state, their profile Like count, and their follower count.
  • Bio holds their looking-for note, bio, years playing, online presence links, demo reel, video intro, and whatever contact details their privacy settings share with you.
  • Music Info is three tabs — Types, Genres, Instruments — that switch in place. Every entry is a rounded chip carrying its own picture: the role's icon for types, the genre family's icon for genres, and each instrument's own icon (instruments still show their years and skill in brackets). Long lists tuck the extras behind a More expander. Genres show their mix percentage only when the member has actually set their genre mix — and then the Genre Mix chart (percent bars and the pie) rides in the Genres tab too. No set mix, no invented numbers.
  • Influences follows when they've named any.
  • Listening stats, the featured playlist, venues, and gear keep their own sections when the member has them.
  • Photos shows thumbnails that open the viewer described above.
  • Availability — the mini calendar of gig-free and busy days — now lives at the bottom of About (it used to be in the right rail). Marked days link to the member's calendar; on your own profile, the "Mark your gig-free days" link underneath is still where marking happens.
  • The Wall is its own menu section, unchanged inside: posts, the sort bar, @mentions, attachments, pins, edit history — the whole discussion kit, wearing the classic black-and-blue comment style.

One new thing on comments here: under a commenter's name you'll see a small line with what they play (or their main role), their band if they're in one, where they're from, and a small icon for their main type — 🎸 musician, 🏠 venue, 📋 booking, 🎧 fan. Comments left as a band or venue page don't carry the line; the page name already says it.

The right rail

  • Follow / Unfollow and Share (copies the profile link, or opens your device's share sheet), plus Send Message — it opens the message card for this member, page-identity aware like everywhere else. Friend buttons (Add Friend, Accept, Friends) live here too when they apply.
  • Recently Joined lists the newest members, with the date they joined.
  • Latest News lists the newest band news posts across the site.
  • Photo Albums and Endorsements are where they've always been, in classic dress.

What didn't change

Every other page on the site renders exactly as before — this design belongs to profile pages (and their Calendar, Reviews, and Works tabs) only. The view-as preview, act-as-page behavior, block/report, private notes, and all owner edit links work as they did.
