Similar Bands & Venues

Every band page and every venue page ends with a "Similar to" box — up to 6 recommendations.

How bands are matched

  • Same genre + same city ranks highest,
  • then same genre,
  • then same city.

Archived, merged, and inactive bands are excluded. If a band has no genre and no city set, there's nothing to match on and the box doesn't appear.

How venues are matched

Other venues in the same city, with rooms that book live music listed first.

Tips

  • Bands: set your genres and hometown city on your band profile — both fields feed the matching. A band with no genres only ever matches by city.
  • Venues: keep your city current and mark live music: yes on your profile.
  • It's a discovery tool, not a ranking — use it to find your local scene, your competition, or your next bill-mates.

FAQ

Why is a band I expected missing? It's archived/merged, has no genre overlap and a different city, or the box already hit its 6-band cap with stronger matches.

Can I turn it off? No — it's automatic and the same for everyone.
