Tour routing

Stack dated holds for a run of shows and see the whole route: stops in date order, the estimated drive between each one, total routing miles, and a map with the route drawn between stops.

How to build a route

  1. Open your band page → Tour Routing (`/bands/<id>/tour-routing`).
  2. Fill in Add a hold: pick a system venue or type a free-text venue name + city/state, set the date, add notes ("load-in 4pm, parking behind").
  3. Save. The stop appears in the list with the drive time from the previous stop.

Click Confirm on a hold when it firms up, or Delete to drop it.

Drive times

Distances are straight-line (haversine) miles at a ~55 mph touring average — honest estimates for planning fuel stops and load-in, not turn-by-turn directions. A stop needs a city/state to get map coordinates (looked up once, automatically, via Open-Meteo geocoding); stops without coordinates show "distance unknown" and are skipped on the map.

Tips

  • Build the route before you start confirming — it's easier to spot a 400-mile deadhead on the map than in a list.
  • The venue dropdown lists system venues; free-text is fine for bars that aren't on MusicXen yet.
  • Holds are planning tools, not bookings — confirm the actual gig through the booking flow.

Troubleshooting

A hold shows "distance unknown". It has no city/state (or the geocode lookup failed). Edit via delete + re-add with a city.

The map is empty. None of your holds have coordinates yet — add city/state to each stop.

I got a clash warning adding a hold. Something already claims that date (a show, another hold, a tour range, or a member's unavailability). Fix the date or save anyway with Save hold anyway if you're sure.
