Gig buddy finder

Going to a show alone? The gig-buddy finder matches you with other fans at the same show who are also looking for company. No profiles to fill out, no awkward group chat — just an opt-in list and the existing messaging.

How to use it

  1. Open the show's fan zone (`/shows/{id}/fans` — the "🎸 Fan zone" link on any show page).
  2. First make sure your RSVP says "I'm going" (RSVP on the show page). Buddy matching only lists people who are actually going.
  3. Tap Find me a gig buddy.
  4. Everyone else who opted in appears in the list with a message → link.

Tap "✓ You're in — opt out" anytime to leave the list.

How contact works

Clicking message → opens a 1:1 conversation with that person in your inbox — the same messaging you'd use anywhere else on the site. Nothing is shared beyond what your profile already shows.

Tips

  • Opt in early — people check the list in the days before the show.
  • Say hi first with which show and where you'll be ("I'll be near the sound booth") — it breaks the ice faster than "hey".
  • Venue staff and band members RSVP too; don't be shy.

Troubleshooting

The button says I need an RSVP first. Buddy matching requires "I'm going" — "Interested" doesn't count, because the list is for people definitely going.

Nobody else is on the list. You might be the first — the count on the fan zone shows how many are looking. Check back closer to the show date.

Someone messaged me and I don't want to talk. Use block/report in your inbox — the same moderation tools as everywhere else on the site.
