Bands looking for you

📣 Bands looking for me is the reverse search: instead of you hunting

through wanted ads, the site watches the Musicians Wanted board and

shows you the ads that match your instruments.

How it works

  1. Log in and open Bands looking for me (linked from Musicians).
  2. The page lists every live wanted ad whose role matches one of the

instruments on your profile — "Drummer" matches "Drums", "Lead

Guitarist" matches "Guitar", and so on.

  1. Ads posted since your last visit carry a green NEW badge. Opening

the page marks everything seen, so the badges clear.

There is no email digest — MusicXen has no mail server — so this page

is the digest. Check it when you're looking.

How to get matched

  • List your instruments on Edit profile (or the signup wizard). No

instruments, no matches — the matcher has nothing to work with.

  • Keep them current: adding "Mandolin" tomorrow starts matching

mandolin ads tomorrow.

Tips

  • Hit 🎵 Request audition right from the digest — it opens the

audition pipeline with the band's poster.

  • Expired ads never appear here; the board's auto-expiry protects the

digest too.

Troubleshooting / FAQ

  • Nothing matches but I play drums. Make sure "Drums" (not just

"Percussion") is in your instrument list — matching is word-based.

  • I keep seeing the same ads. The NEW badge clears when you open the

page; the ads themselves stay until they expire or fill.

  • An ad matched the wrong instrument. Role wording is free text from

the band ("axeman wanted") — close enough counts as a match, by design.
