Notify me

"Notify me" sends you an in-app notification the moment a new show is posted that matches a band, venue, or genre you watch. MusicXen has no email alerts by design — everything lands in your Notifications page (the nav badge counts unread).

How to set it up

  1. Open Fans → 🔔 Notify me (`/fans/subscriptions`).
  2. Pick an alert type: a band, a venue, or a genre.
  3. Choose the band/venue/genre from the dropdown.
  4. Set within miles of me (0 = anywhere).
  5. Tap Add alert.

Remove any alert with its remove link.

How matching works

  • Band alerts fire when that band posts a new show.
  • Venue alerts fire when any show is posted at that venue.
  • Genre alerts fire when a band in that genre posts a show.
  • Radius is measured from your profile location to the venue's coordinates. If either side never set coordinates, the alert still arrives — marked "distance unknown" so you know the radius wasn't checked.
  • You never get alerted about a show you posted yourself.
  • One show sends at most one alert per person, even if several of your alerts match.

Tips

  • Venue managers: set your venue's latitude/longitude on the venue profile edit page — it makes radius filtering work for everyone and enables fan check-ins.
  • Set your own location on Settings so radius alerts can measure distance to you.

Troubleshooting

I got an alert for a show 200 miles away. The venue has no coordinates set, so the radius couldn't be checked — the alert says "distance unknown". Ask the venue to add their location.

No alert arrived for a show I expected. Check that the alert type matches (a genre alert only fires for bands in that genre) and that the show was created after you added the alert — old shows don't retro-alert.

I keep getting alerts for far-away shows. Lower your radius, or set it to 0 and treat it as a firehose.
