Merging and archiving bands

Bands change names, join forces, and break up. MusicXen handles all three

without losing history.

Merging two bands

When two bands become one, an Admin of both bands can merge one into

the other from the Admin tab:

  • The merged band's page becomes a read-only pointer to the surviving

band — its wall, shows, setlists, and members are all kept, but nothing

new can be posted.

  • The surviving band's Members tab lists the merged band under "Merged

bands".

Undo is always available: an Admin can unmerge and both bands go back to

normal. You can't merge into a band that is itself archived or merged.

Archiving (breakup memorial)

Instead of deleting a band, archive it: the page freezes into a

read-only memorial with an "In memory of" banner and your farewell note.

Nothing is lost — unarchiving restores the band fully.

Deleting

Deleting a band is permanent and blocked for archived or merged bands —

archive or unmerge them first. Deletion removes the band and its content.
