Getting started: new musician

Welcome. Here's the fastest path from signup to your first gig lead —

about 20 minutes if you have a photo and a recording handy.

Step 1 — Sign up (5 min)

Run the signup wizard: pick the Musician

position type, then fill in your info, instruments, genres, and music.

The review step shows everything before you commit.

Step 2 — Finish your profile (10 min)

  1. Add a profile photo and a bio — who you are, what you play,

what you're after.

  1. Pick your instruments and genres carefully — they drive search

and your match scores.

  1. Upload a demo reel (a track or two) and a short video intro.

Profiles with playable audio get far more replies.

  1. Set your availability calendar so bookers see when you're free.

Check your profile completeness meter and

get it to 100%.

Step 3 — Say what you're looking for (2 min)

Turn on the "Looking for" banner on your profile: gigs, a band,

sessions, students — whatever it is. It puts a flag on your profile and

lists you on the Looking-for boards where bands and venues browse.

Step 4 — Find people and gigs

  • Musician search / finder — search players by instrument, genre,

and distance; every result carries a match score.

  • Wanted ads — bands post openings; reply to the ones that fit.
  • Open jams & open mics — the lowest-pressure way to meet players

in your town.

  • New to town? — there's a mode for that, surfacing jams, teachers,

and easy first gigs.

Step 5 — Talk and book

Use Messages for everything — introductions, audition

details, gig offers. Pin the agreed date, pay, and load-in time to the

top of the thread once a gig is set.

Troubleshooting

Nobody's replying. Profiles with no photo, no audio, and an empty

bio get skipped. Add all three, then try again — and lead with a

message template, not "yo".

I'm not showing up in searches. City + instruments + genres must all

be set. Double-check your city is current.
