Musician search filters

The Musicians directory filters are built for the questions bands

actually ask before messaging someone.

The filters

  • Genre — type-ahead search across the genre tree.
  • Has PA / Has transport — reads the musician's gear list.
  • Skill — Beginner / Intermediate / Advanced / Professional, from the

musician's profile.

  • Yrs ≥ — minimum years playing.
  • Gigs ≥ — minimum gigs played.
  • Reads charts — only musicians who flagged they can read charts.
  • Age min–max — for bar gigs and age-restricted rooms. Age comes from

the date of birth on the musician's account.

How to use it

  1. Open Musicians, set whatever combination you need, hit Filter.
  2. Every result shows a ★ match score and, when both sides took the

quiz, a ❤ compatibility %.

  1. 🗺 Map view plots the same results on a map with distance rings.
  2. 🔖 Save this search stores the filter set and alerts you to new

matches.

Age filter notes

  • Musicians who never entered a date of birth are **excluded when the

age filter is on** — a bar-gig age requirement can't be verified

without one. With no age filter set, everyone shows normally.

  • Ages are computed from the DOB on the account; bad dates are ignored.

Tips

  • Combine Reads charts with Gigs ≥ 20 when you need a dep who can

sight-read a set cold.

  • Skill level is self-rated; years and gigs are the harder numbers.
  • Bookers: Has PA + Has transport is the classic "can this person

actually do the gig" pair.

Troubleshooting / FAQ

  • No results with the age filter on. Everyone matching your other

filters may lack a DOB. Loosen the other filters first to check.

  • My gigs/skill don't show. They're on Edit profile under

Musician — the directory reads them from there.

  • The genre box finds nothing. Use the type-ahead: it searches the

full genre tree, including sub-genres.
