Weather overlay

Outdoor shows get a live weather snapshot — condition, high/low, and rain chance — powered by Open-Meteo (free, no signup, no API key).

Where it appears

  • My Gigs fan feed: weather on outdoor shows within 7 days.
  • Monthly poster: weather glyphs on outdoor shows within 7 days.
  • Per-show box: `/shows/<id>/weather` renders the forecast as an embeddable snippet (htmx-friendly).

The 7-day rule

Forecasts appear only for shows within the next 7 days. Farther out, the forecast would be fiction — the page says "Forecast appears 7 days before the show" instead. Past shows and indoor shows get an explanatory note, never a fake forecast.

Marking a show outdoor

Weather only applies to shows flagged outdoor. Band admins and venue managers flip the flag on the show's weather box (`/shows/<id>/weather`) — a Mark outdoor / Mark indoor button appears there for anyone who can manage the show.

Tips

  • Rain chance over ~40% on an outdoor show is your cue to check the venue's rain plan.
  • Temperatures are Fahrenheit, converted from the source data.

Troubleshooting

"Forecast unavailable right now." The weather service didn't answer, or the show has no usable city/state to look up. The rest of the page is unaffected — weather never blocks anything.

Wrong city forecast. The lookup uses the show's city/state (or its venue's). Fix the location on the show and the forecast follows.

No weather on my outdoor show. Either it's more than 7 days out, or the show isn't flagged outdoor.
