Planning a tour

A tour is your band's planned itinerary — a named run of dated stops

with venues, cities, and drive distances, all on one page with a map.

What you need

  • You must be logged in and a band admin (or the band's creator).

Creating a tour

  1. Open the band page and click Tours.
  2. Fill in a name (e.g. "Summer Midwest Run"), optional start/end

dates, and notes, then Create tour.

Adding stops

On the tour page, use Add a stop:

  • Venue name, city, state, and date.
  • Latitude/longitude (optional but recommended) — stops with

coordinates appear on the map and count toward drive estimates.

  • Or pick a known venue from the dropdown to link the stop.

Optimizing the route

Stops are listed in the order you added them. Click **Optimize stop

order** to reorder them with a nearest-neighbor heuristic that

minimizes total drive distance. Stops without coordinates stay at the

end in their original order.

Drive distances are straight-line (haversine) estimates — plan fuel

and load-in around them, not to the minute.

The route map

The map shows every stop with coordinates as numbered markers. When

the free OSRM routing service is reachable, the map draws the actual

driving route between stops; otherwise it falls back to dashed

straight lines. The map works either way.

Tips

  • Add coordinates for every stop to get the full map and drive totals.
  • Put the earliest date first before optimizing — the optimizer starts

from the earliest-dated stop.

  • Link stops to venue pages so fans can click through for details.

Troubleshooting

The map shows markers but no route line. The routing service may

be temporarily unreachable — the dashed straight-line fallback is

expected and the stop list is unaffected.

Optimize didn't change much. With only two or three stops, or

stops in a natural line, the best order may already be what you had.

FAQ

Who can see my tour? Tours are public — anyone can view the

itinerary and map. Only band admins can edit.

Can I delete a stop? Yes — use the Remove button next to any

stop. Deleting a tour itself isn't offered yet; ask a site admin.
