Getting started: new band

Here's the path from "we're a band" to a booked, promoted show.

Step 1 — Create the band (5 min)

Use the start-a-band wizard: name, genres, then the roles you need.

It creates the band page and auto-posts one wanted ad per open role

so you can fill the lineup. Then invite your members and set

roles & permissions (who can book, post,

spend).

Step 2 — Build the band page (15 min)

  1. Bio, photo, genres, hometown.
  2. Upload tracks to the demo reel — bookers listen before they

reply.

  1. Add a stage plot and gear list — venues ask for these

constantly; having them ready makes you look pro.

  1. Build a press kit (EPK) from the page when you're pitching.

Step 3 — Publish your free dates (5 min)

Band admins toggle open dates on the free-dates calendar. Venues

browse the public free-bands board by day — published dates are how

they find you. Mark tour dates too so nobody double-books you.

Step 4 — Book the show

  • Propose to a venue: find a venue, pick a date, and send a booking

proposal — headline, support, or festival template. The venue

approves or declines; counter-offers go back and forth in the thread.

  • Claim a slot: venues with open slots let you book straight into

one — see the illustrated guide.

  • Read the venue's house rules before proposing, and agree to them

in the booking.

Step 5 — Promote it

  1. Make a flyer in the flyer studio — it auto-fills from the show

and carries a QR code to the real show page.

  1. Work the promote checklist and log your street team.
  2. Share the show page link — RSVPs, ticket links, and the fan feed do

the rest.

Step 6 — Play and settle up

After the gig, the settlement records the door, the guarantee, and

who got paid what — both sides see the same numbers.

Troubleshooting

Venues aren't answering proposals. Check your demo reel and stage

plot exist, propose dates 4–8 weeks out, and write a real opener with

the template — not a blank proposal.

Two bookings landed on the same date. The clash checker warns you,

but it can't stop you — keep the free-dates calendar current and check

the band calendar before proposing.
