Signup wizard

The MusicXen signup wizard gets you from "just heard about this place" to a

working profile in six short steps. Your answers are saved after every step,

so you can leave and come back — nothing is lost.

The six steps

1. Account — enter your email and pick a password. The password meter

tells you in plain language how strong your password is.

1. Your info — name, birthday, city, mobile number. You can drop a pin

on the map instead of typing your address — the map fills in city,

state, and ZIP automatically. Approximate location is fine.

1. Position types — musician, fan, band, venue owner, promoter, etc.

Pick all that apply. Step 4 changes to match what you pick.

1. Your details — tap the instruments you play, pick your genres,

years playing, a short bio. Creating a band? Add your bandmates here

(name, instrument, email or phone) and we'll invite them to join and

claim their seat. Booking agents and promoters can search for their

venue here — or add it new, and we'll invite its owner to claim it.

Venue owners can add their venue here too.

1. Username — pick your username: your address on MusicXen

(MusicXen.com/you), how people find you, tag you, and book you. The

page checks availability as you type and offers a couple of available

names made from your email. One warning lives here: if you take the

name of a famous band, person, or brand that isn't you, you'll

probably lose it — you'll be asked to acknowledge that, and we save

that acknowledgement with your account.

1. Review — a summary of everything you entered (including the

address you just picked), plus a preview of what your profile will

look like. Check it, click "I'm not a robot", done.

Tips

• Steps 2 and 4 have skip links if you'd rather finish later — required

fields can wait.

• When you finish, you'll pick what brought you here (join a band, play a

show, take lessons, or just look around) and land on the right screen.

• The dashboard shows a checklist of what's left to finish your profile,

with links to each step.

Troubleshooting / FAQ

• It says my username is taken. Usernames are first-come, first-served.

Try one of the available suggestions on the username step, or add a

number, an underscore, or your instrument (e.g. "sarah_drums").

• Can I take a famous band's name? Only if it's genuinely yours. Names

that belong to a famous band, artist, person, or brand can be handed to

the real owner — you'll have to pick a new one. The username step

explains this and asks you to acknowledge it; the acknowledgement (and

when you gave it) is saved on your account.

• I closed the tab halfway through. Come back to MusicXen and you'll see

a "pick up where you left off" notice — click it to continue from the step

you were on.

• Location isn't filling in. Start typing your city or ZIP in the location

field and pick your place from the dropdown list. Or tap the globe icon

inside the field — a map opens centered on your phone's location with a pin

already dropped there; drag the pin (or tap the map) to put it exactly where

you are, and your location fills in from the pin. If your browser blocks the

location request, the map still opens so you can drop the pin by hand — or

just type the field.

• My city has more than one ZIP code. Type your city and the dropdown lists

each ZIP on its own row — pick yours. Typing the ZIP itself works too, and

a ZIP+4 (like 84084-1234) is accepted as well.

• I picked the wrong position types. Go back to step 3 and change them —

anything you entered in step 4 is cleared so it stays consistent.

• The password meter says "weak". Add length (12+ characters), mix upper

and lowercase, and throw in a number or symbol.
