Auditions

An audition on MusicXen is one pipeline kept inside one message thread:

request → share tracks → schedule → accept/decline. Everything —

the invitation, the demos, the date, the decision — lives in the same

place, so nobody hunts through five conversations.

How to start one

From a wanted ad (the Musicians Wanted board):

  1. Click 🎵 Request audition on the ad.
  2. That's it — the band's poster gets an audition thread with you, and a

status line is posted automatically.

From a musician's directory listing:

  1. Click Audition next to their name.
  2. Optionally pick one of your bands to audition on behalf of.

The pipeline

  1. Requested. The invitation is out. The other person sees it under

🎵 Auditions in their account.

  1. Share tracks. The musician being auditioned picks demo tracks from

their own uploads (Music page) — no re-uploading, no email attachments.

  1. Schedule. The requester proposes a date, time, and a note (where,

what to bring).

  1. Accept / decline. The musician accepts or either side declines.

Either side can cancel an in-progress audition anytime.

Every step posts a status line into the shared message thread, and the

thread itself is one click away on the audition page for the actual

back-and-forth.

Tips

  • You can't open a second live audition with the same person for the same

band — the site sends you to the existing one instead.

  • Share tracks before scheduling: it gives the other side a reason to

say yes to a date.

  • Put the venue address and what to bring in the schedule note.

Troubleshooting / FAQ

  • I don't see the audition. Both sides see it under Auditions; check

you're logged in as the right account.

  • The date picker rejected my time. Use the browser's date/time

picker — typed dates must look like `2026-10-05T19:00`.

  • I declined by mistake. The other side can start a fresh audition;

declined ones stay as history.

  • Can a band audition me without a wanted ad? Yes — from your

musician listing, or from your profile page.
