Band free dates ("I'm free")

Tell venues when you're available instead of waiting for them to ask. Band admins toggle I'm free dates on the band's Free Dates calendar; published dates show up on the venue-facing free-bands board, where bookers browse who's available on their night.

How to mark free dates

  1. Open your band page → Free Dates (or go to `/bands/<id>/free-dates`).
  2. Click I'm free on any upcoming date. Add an optional note ("full band, no curfew") and leave publish checked to show it to venues.
  3. To remove a date, click Unmark on it.

Green cells are free, blue cells are already booked, hatched cells fall inside an on-tour range.

How venues use it

Venues open /venues/free-bands, pick a date, and see every band that published free for that night — with genres, city, and your note. If a band books the date after publishing, it's automatically hidden from the board so venues never see stale availability.

Tips

  • Publish the dates you're most hoping to fill; keep private drafts unchecked on "publish".
  • Notes help: "acoustic duo only" or "need backline" saves everyone a phone call.
  • Marking a date free does NOT hold it — it's an invitation, not a booking.

Troubleshooting

I marked a date free but venues can't see it. The "publish" checkbox was probably off — the date shows as "(draft)" to you. Unmark it and re-add with publish checked.

The board warned me about a clash when I toggled. The date already has a show, hold, or tour range. You can mark it free anyway ("Mark free anyway") if the existing item is tentative — but double-check you're not double-booking.

Can fans see free dates? No — only the venue board. Fans see confirmed gigs on the calendar and in My Gigs.
