Instructor lessons

Find a music teacher, watch a sample lesson, and book a trial at a fixed intro price — or list yourself as an instructor and take students.

Finding an instructor

Open Lessons in the nav. Filter by:

  • Instrument — what you want to learn
  • Skill level — beginner, intermediate, advanced
  • Format — in person, online, or both
  • Search — matches bios and taught instruments

Each instructor card shows review averages, the hourly rate, and the trial lesson price.

Instructor profiles

An instructor profile shows the bio, instruments and levels taught, lesson format and location note, and a video sample lesson — a short clip of the instructor actually teaching, uploaded from Teach → your instructor profile (mp4/webm/mov, up to 64MB).

Trial lesson booking

Trial lessons use the instructor's fixed intro price — one rate, shown on the profile, baked into every trial request. To book:

  1. Open the instructor's profile and fill in when works for you + notes.
  2. Hit Request trial lesson. The instructor gets an in-app notification.
  3. The instructor confirms or declines from their lesson dashboard.

Payment happens off-platform. MusicXen runs no payment processor and takes no cut — you pay your instructor directly. Their dashboard reminds them of this too.

Teaching-specific reviews

After lessons, students review instructors on three axes, not just stars:

  • Patience (1–5)
  • Structure (1–5)
  • Overall (1–5)

plus free text. One review per student per instructor — posting again updates your review.

Listing yourself as an instructor

Go to Teach → your instructor profile (`/settings/instructor`). Fill in your bio, the instruments you teach, skill levels, format, location note, hourly rate, and trial intro price, and upload your video sample lesson. You immediately appear in the directory.

FAQ

Can I book my own profile? No — the form blocks self-booking.

Can I request a second trial? Only after the first request is resolved (confirmed or declined), and only one pending request per instructor at a time.

I confirmed a trial — who pays whom? The student pays the instructor directly, off-platform. MusicXen never touches the money.

My reviews don't show? They appear once posted; the directory card averages appear after the first review.
