Edit history and highlighted changes

Posts and comments can be edited after they go up. An

edited post or comment wears an Edited mark, and

nothing about the earlier versions is hidden: anyone

who can see the post can see what it used to say.

Opening the history

Two doors lead to the same history:

  • Tap the Edited mark itself.
  • Press and hold the post or comment and choose

🕘 Edit history from the menu.

Reading the changes

The history lists every version in order, oldest first.

Each step shows when the edit happened and who made

it, with the change itself highlighted:

  • Added words are highlighted.
  • Removed words are struck through.

So instead of reading the whole old post and the whole

new post side by side, you read one text with just the

differences lit up.

Very long edits skip the highlighting — past a certain

size the history shows the plain "before" and "after"

texts instead, so a huge edit never makes the page

struggle. The words are all still there either way.

The exact time, while you are here

The time next to a post or comment ("2 hours ago") is

a control too:

  • Hover over it (mouse), or press and hold it,

and it previews the full date and time while you

hold — let go and it goes back to the short form.

  • Click (or tap) it, and the full date and time

locks in place until the page is loaded again.

Click once more to unlock it early.
