Adding pictures, videos and links

Posts and comments can carry more than words: pictures,

videos, and a preview card for a link. It works the same

everywhere you can write — your feed, profile walls, band

walls, comment and reply boxes, and the questions under a

Marketplace listing.

Adding a picture or video

Tap the paperclip in the post or comment box and pick

your files. Each file uploads right there, in the box,

with its own little progress bar — you do not leave the

page, and nothing reloads.

While a file is staged (uploaded, but not posted yet) it

shows as a small chip next to the paperclip:

  • A picture shows a thumbnail of itself.
  • A video shows its file name.
  • The × on a chip takes that file back — it is

removed before anything is posted, and the uploaded

copy is deleted.

  • If you hit Post while an upload is still running, the

post waits for the upload to finish first. Your

pictures are never left behind by an impatient tap.

You can stage up to four files on one post or

comment, in any mix of pictures and videos:

  • Pictures: jpg, png, gif, or webp, up to 10 MB each.
  • Videos: mp4, webm, or mov, up to 100 MB each.

Words are optional. A post or comment can be just

pictures or videos with nothing written at all —

sometimes the picture IS the post. The box only refuses

when there is nothing at all: no words and no files.

Editing follows the same rule: a post or comment that

carries pictures or videos can have its words edited

down to none; one with no media still needs words.

How they show

Under your words — or right under your name when there

are no words — in the order you added them:

  • Pictures show as pictures. Tap one to open the

full-size version.

  • Videos play right in the post or comment, with the

usual play controls.

Deleting a comment puts its words away (its replies

stay, as always) and its pictures and videos stop

showing with it. Deleting a post removes the whole post

from every wall and feed, media included.

Attachments are added when you write the post or

comment. Editing your words later does not add or remove

attachments — if you need different pictures, delete and

repost.

Paste a link into a post or comment and, when you save,

MusicXen fetches that page once and builds a **preview

card** under your words:

  • the page's own picture,
  • its title,
  • the first few lines of its text,
  • and the site's name underneath.

The whole card is the link — tap anywhere on it to

visit the page. Plain links in your words are clickable

too.

Rules worth knowing:

  • Only the first link in a post or comment gets a

card. The rest stay plain (clickable) links.

  • The preview is fetched once, when you save — not

every time someone reads your post — and it is stored

with your words.

  • Editing follows one simple rule: if the first

link is still the same link, the stored preview stays

as it is. Change the first link and the new page's

preview is fetched. Take the link out and the card

goes away.

  • Some pages cannot be previewed (they refuse, time

out, or carry no title or description). Then there is

simply no card — your link still works as a normal

link. Nothing about your post fails because a preview

did.

  • For everyone's safety, MusicXen will not fetch links

that point at private or internal network addresses —

those stay plain links as well.
