Step 1 of 6 — Account

Account:
Use a real email — it's how you log in, and the only address we'll ever mail about your account.
MusicXen uses your location to find shows, musicians, and venues near you.
Two ways to fill it in:
- Type it: start typing your city and state, or your ZIP code, and pick the matching place from the list that appears.
- Locate on the map: tap the map button next to the field to use your current location. A map opens with a pin where you are — drag the pin to your exact neighborhood and the ZIP code updates to match where the pin sits.
You can change your location later from your profile settings.
Instruments: tap every instrument you play. Each one you tap opens two small boxes underneath it — how long you've played that instrument, and your skill level on it. They're per instrument because they can be different: 12 years on guitar and 6 months on piano are both worth saying.
Years playing can be part-years: type 1.5 for a year and a half, 0.5 for six months, 2.25 for two years and three months. We date-stamp what you enter and count it forward, so your experience stays accurate as time passes — no need to come back and update it.
Every instrument you pick needs both boxes filled in before you can continue — unpick an instrument if you'd rather not answer for it.
Genres: search by name, or browse the family cards and drill down (Metal → Black Metal → Symphonic Black Metal). You can pick the family itself, the sub-genres, or the deepest ones — as many as you want, no limit.
Your mobile number is used for account security — like proving it's really you when you sign in — and, only if you choose, so people can reach you about bookings.
We will not share your contact info without your direct approval. After you sign up, your contact privacy settings decide exactly who can see your number.
Position types are what you do in the music scene — singer, guitarist, venue owner, promoter, fan, and many more.
Pick everything that fits: you can choose more than one, and you can change them later. What you pick decides which extra questions come next (like your instruments and genres) and how people find you on MusicXen.
MusicXen is currently invite-only, so a new account needs an invite.
- Got a code? Type it in the box — it looks like MX-7X2P.
- Invited by email or phone? Leave the box blank. When your invite was sent to your email address or phone number, we match it automatically as you sign up.
- No invite yet? Use the “Request an invite” link under the box.
Your username is your address on MusicXen: MusicXen.com/username. It's how people find you, tag you, and book you, and it shows on your posts and your band pages.
It needs at least 3 characters. Pick one you're happy to put on a flyer — and don't take the name of a famous band, artist, person, or brand that isn't you: we can hand it to the real owner, and you'll have to choose a new one.
